Lessons From A Study of Perfect Pitch Decks

Photos

  • Unsplash – Free – Stylish, kind of hip
  • Free Images – Free – Good for finding specific things (i.e. apple)
  • iStock – Low-cost – Wide selection, decent-sized medical selection
  • PlaceIt – Free and low-cost – If you have a UI screen, it’s nice to integrate it into a device.

Diagrams

  • Diagrammer  – Duarte provides free PowerPoint files of pre-built diagrams in these categories. Suggestion: REMOVE the drop shadow on downloaded items for a cleaner look.
    • Diagrams can be a great alternative solution to a bunch of plain old text on a slide. Are you describing a process? Use a linear flow diagram. Are you describing a hub – as in your product is a hub and sends out information to multiple targets? Use a Network: Hub and Spokes diagram.

PowerPoint Templates

Premium Templates – For big presentations, or for decks you know you’ll use a lot, it’s sometimes worth spending $10-15 or so on a nice template. Robust templates can contain chart styles, icon suites, type styles, etc that add a big polish to your presentation.

Free Templates – These are typically less robust than premium templates. Here are some examples of free templates which might fit your needs for smaller presentations.
